Stupendous, authentic meal!
"Those people that rate this place as "just okay" must be used to Mexican-American chains like chi-chi's or Don Pablo's. If that type of banality is for you, steer clear of Old Town Mexican Cafe. To start, My margarita was delicious - not too tart, not too sweet. Salsa and chips were very good, and the side of beans (NOT refried, btw) were well-seasoned and exceptional. I highly recommend the Manchaka Beef tostada, which was piled high with tender shredded beef with just the right amount of spice and topped with mixed greens, guacamole, sour cream and black olives. Viva la tostada!! Best I've ever had, and I've been eating Mexican food for more than 30 years all over the US, Mexico and a bit of the Caribbean. Eat your heart out Senor Frog's. This place is better by miles and miles!"

Unexpected Delight
"We live in Texas and we've spent hundreds of days in Mexico so we're skeptical about Mexican restaurants anywhere else in the world. We would never have tried this restaurant except our friend Dallas (entertainer par excellant at Willie T's) wanted to come here. Then we met George, the manager/chef and gave it a 2nd visit. Both meals were wonderful. Excellent food. A crab cake appetizer that was big enough for lunch for both of us. All the food we saw being served looked incredibly fresh and delicious. The banana enchilada dessert won best dessert on the island. Amazing. Beautiful ambience. Wonderful guitar music. Excellent service. Give this one a try."

Great Mixture of Flavors
"We stopped by for dinner, wife had, as she described it... "the best calamari I've ever had!" Margaritas were 4 out of 5, my seafood quesadillas were outstanding as were the conch fritters. Not as touristy as most of the other restaurants on Duval street. We will be back!"
